I

The I is not something tangible. The I is a fabrication of the brain.
The I is a mental construct.

Something hurts me and I am offended. However, who is really offended?
Is it my body? Is it something physical, something concrete, something tangible or is it something completely different? And what actually is this other thing, what is this I that is offended?
If we think carefully, we see that it is something we think we are. That is, it is some thinking about what we are supposed to be.

If something hurts me, what actually gets hurt?
Does something concrete get hurt or does only some belief that we nurture about ourselves get hurt?

Let’s say we think we are beautiful and someone tells us we are ugly. This can hurt us to the bottom of our heart.
However, where does this statement really hit?
Doesn’t it hit the belief that we nurture?

Let’s say we didn’t care whether we are beautiful or ugly, would this statement also hurt us in that case?
